New Bakersfield Sound Book to be Unveiled at Kern County Museum's Neon Night II Event

The newest book on the Bakersfield Sound will be available for purchase starting June 18, 2009 at the Kern County Museum. That date coincides with the museum's 2nd Annual Neon Nights event celebrating the neon history of Kern County . Neon signs from the Bakersfield Inn, Fare East Cafe, Jim Baker Electrifier and many more light up the night to take fols back in time when the Bakersfield Sound was at its peak.

The book, being written by the museum's Jeff Nickell and Sarah Woodman, takes advantage of the wonderful photo collection the museum houses. There are nearly 100 images that illustrate the history of the Bakersfield Sound.

Tickets to Neon Night are $12 for Kern County Museum and Bakersfield Country Music Museum members. Non-members price is $15. Admission price includes dinner from Los Hermanos. A no-host bar will offer margaritas or Jamba juice smooties.

This book and event are being sponsored in part by KUZZ (www.kuzz.com) and the Bakersfield Country Music Museum (www.bakersfieldcountrymusicmuseum.org).
